Coach: Matt Russ
Age: 37
Personal: I have been doing triathlons as a "hobby" for approximately three years. I started in Orlando and upon moving to Atlanta a year ago, I decided that if I am ever going to get serious about training.... now is the time to do it! Upon moving to Atlanta I intentionally did not upgrade any of my equipment, purchase a new bike, sign up for any special lessons or coaching... I wanted to establish a baseline in order to determine if I had any "real" potential. Without any regimented training - or a team to help hold me accountable, I won my age-group in the Tri the Parks sprint series in 07. Since the beginning of last year (06) triathlon has become a lifestyle for me. The people you meet and the intensity you feel "on the field" is unlike any other sport. My triathlon friends are like my family here in Atlanta. My goals for 2007 include "training to compete" as opposed to just recreationally enjoying the atmosphere. I have "recruited" several people to the sport and look forward to continuing to find my niche (distance) while progressing in the rankings!
