Age: 24
Personal: Although I am not a true native of Atlanta, I have spent the last twenty years of my life here. I grew up in Dunwoody, then moved to the Emory area during high school and am currently live in Virginia Highlands. I really enjoy living in the city even though I think every bike ride I take in the streets of Atlanta may be my last!
I cannot remember a time when I wasn’t playing sports. From the neighborhood swim and tennis teams to my short-lived basketball career to competing in high school and college-level volleyball, I have led a pretty active live.
In addition to all the sports I was playing, I started running in high school just to stay in shape for volleyball, and have kept it up ever since. I started biking in college after my cousin, Erin was diagnosed with MS and my family joined her for the annual MS 150 Jack & Back bike rides. (Needless to say I had fun on those rides since you get to drink all the Jack Daniels you want after the ride!) From there, I naturally found my place competing in triathlons. And ever since my first race last year, I have been hooked!
Since so much time of my time at work is at a computer in an office, I have to rely on racing to keep me sane! Plus, I am a very competitive person and love the feeling of setting and accomplishing new goals for myself.
I look forward to competing in the Macon Coliseum Rock N Roll Man 70.3 again this year, and hopefully drastically improving my bike time!
Athletic Accomplishments:
Fort Yargo Sprint Triathlon 2006 - 1st Novice / 1st AG
Coliseum Rock N Roll 70.3 2006 - 1st AG / USA Age Group National Championship Qualifier
Tri-America Louisville International Triathlon - 2nd AG
Albany Snickers Half Marathon 2006 - 3rd AG
ING Georgia Marathon 2007 - Top 100 Women
2007 Goals: Since this is just my second year competing, I am really looking forward to learning more about the sport and improving on my first year's performance.
So far I am planning to compete in the Langely Pond International Tri and the Coliseum Rock N Roll Man 70.3. After that, I will squeeze in a few more Olympic distance races and another Half IronMan this season.
