Yvonne Bedell

Age: 31

Personal: I was born and raised in Atlanta. Yes, I'm one of the few native Georgia peaches. At the age of 5, I began swimming competitively and continued all throughout college. After graduating from Georgia Tech, I began running and competing in local 5's and 10k's to stay in shape. In 2004, a friend got me into biking and it was at that point that I realized how much I liked all of those sports. The next week, I bought my own bike, read up on the art of triathlons, and signed up for my first sprint triathlon. During the race, I had more fun that I ever imagined and even ended up with a third place trophy! Ever since then, I have been hooked on triathlons. I have always loved friendly competition and with triathlons, there are so many aspects to the sport, I am continuously challenged and I never get bored. I have a wonderful, supportive husband who trains with me and cheers me on at every race. When I'm not training, racing, or spending time with my friends and family, I work as a Sales Engineer for Rockwell Automation. I guess that should be written the other way around. Wink wink :) My main goals for this year are to have fun, win my age group at each race, and beat my previous time in the USAT National Championship race. I'd like to try a half-ironman this year, but the one I want to do is a week after Nationals. So, we will see what Coach Russ recommends.
