Growing up, Ashley Folkes  would have thought to be a triathlete you would have to play basketball, baseball and football which were the only 3 sports offered when and where he grew up in rural Alabama.  Fast forward 15 years and you would have never guessed that triathlon hasn’t been a part of his life since he was a kid.  After playing basketball competitively in school and college he needed something new as goal and challenge in life outside of his work.  Triathlon has become that challenge and really has shaped and added to the last 8 years of his life.

Ashley is a competitive elite level triathlete and has competed in over 50 triathlon events- From sprint distance to 6 Ironman events.  He is fanatical about improving himself in all area of his life and being the best he can be at what he does, which has transitioned over nicely to becoming a triathlon coach.

Ashley believes he has learned from the very best coaches and enjoys sharing the knowledge and lessons he has learn from each and every coach during his triathlon career.  He believes that every athlete is different in some form or fashion and should be coached accordingly.  Ashley is determined to impact the lives of each of his athletes and helps develop training programs that reflects their time availability, goals – short and long term, ability, sports background, work and family life and competitive drive.

He believes that in order to have happy, successful athletes that they need to consistently reach their athletic and health goals, to be pushed outside of their comfort zones for improvements and to have workouts that are not only challenging but exciting and fun.

Ashley graduated from Troy University with a degree in Marketing.  He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER, CHARTERED RETIREMENT PLANNING COUNSELOR and Vice President with Merrill Lynch in Atlanta Georgia.
His favorite workout is doing a long tempo run with his 3 year old border collie Cooper, who never complains and always pushes the pace.
