In a literal sense I have been a swimmer for as long as I can remember.  I swam competitively from ages 5 to 22.  I achieved multiple top 16 and top 8 finishes in the National Age Group rankings as a club swimmer as well as a few state championship wins.  I swam for Georgia Tech from 2002 – 2006 and was a two time All American in the 1,650 and ACC Champion in the 1,650 my junior year.  I was also the first Tech swimmer to qualify for the NCAA championships all four years.  I’m being inducted into the Northeast Georgia Sports Hall of Fame along with 10 others this fall.

When my four years of eligibility were over I enjoyed some time off from competition.  During this time I found out I didn’t care much for idle exercise. . . I needed something to train for.  I bought my first bike in Feburary 2008 and did my first multisport race at the Turtle Crawl Triathlon down in Jekyll Island in May.  I discovered I had some talent for triathlon and since then I have worked my way up to the 70.3 distance placing 2nd in my first 70.3 race with a time of 4:17.  As a member of The Sport Factory Elite Team I have achieved multiple Sprint and Olympic distance race wins, including Tugaloo and Emerald Pointe, and even qualified for my Elite (pro) card.  I enjoy helping others learn about this great sport and grow as I have.

I have a mind that never sleeps and desire to master all the technical aspects of the sport.  I want to help others train more effectively towards their goals in multisport and remove the inefficiencies from the training process.  I want to help athletes avoid the mistakes I made before I started being coached by The Sport Factory, and integrate a uniquely balanced training plan into their individual lives.

I enjoy working with athletes of all levels- from juniors to senior and from beginners to elites.  I have been coaching swimming for years and greatly enjoy applying my knowledge to triathlon.  I read extensively about cycling, running, exercise science, and nutrition.  If I had known this stuff was so fascinating, I would have majored in it.  I want to not only create the best custom training plans, but to be able to answer every question thrown at me as well.  If I don’t know the answer to a question I will tap every resource available or test it myself until I reach a valid conclusion.  In this way I challenge myself as your coach just as I challenge myself as an athlete.
