1/8 Power Based Training and Advanced Analysis.
Coach Brett Daniels takes
the mystery out of training with Power. In this two hour introduction to Power
we will cover basic power terms and metrics, types of power meters, and analysis of power
files using WKO+ software. If you train with power, or you are thinking about buying
a power meter, this class is a great way to get familiar with power training. 2-4pm at The Sport Factory.
5/13 Optimizing your running form and economy / sport nutrition and weight control. Coach Matt Russ will teach you how to run faster, using less energy while reducing your impact forces. One of the biggest challenges for athletes is fueling the body optimally while creating a caloric deficit. Ilana Katz RD/CSSD will help you with pre-event, event, and post event recovery nutrition as well as weight loss skill sets for endurance athletes. 2-4pm at The Sport Factory.
6/10 Field testing vs clinical testing, setting benchmarks, gauging progress, and evaluating the effectiveness of your training plan. If you are scratching your head this season this clinic is for you. We will discuss the various types of testing and protocols such as field tests, functional threshold, VO2, lactate threshold and how they may be used to gauge training effectiveness. Coach Matt Russ will give you the "secrets" to designing an effective training plan. This clinic is a must if you are considering purchasing a power meter. 2-4pm at The Sport Factory.
7/1 The Race Day Process- Planning, pacing, mental skills, nutrition and avoiding mechanical pitfalls. A race must be effectively managed, even if you are well prepared. Don't let an easily avoided mistake derail your next PR. Mental skills and pacing are some of the most overlooked, and most useful, that an athlete can possess. We will help you define your limiters and hone your metal skills breaking race day into a defined mental/physical process. Using equipment and devices (GPS, heart rate, power meter) for pacing will also be discussed. 2-4pm at The Sport Factory.
9/23 Cycling aerodynamics, equipment selection, integrating training technology, and getting the most bang for your buck. We
will teach you the most effective ways to reduce your aerodynamic drag,
and demonstrate how it may lead to a faster bike split. We discuss the
latest advances in training and racing technology, where your money is
best spent, and separate hype from fact; fad from trend. 2-4pm at The Sport Factory.
10/21 Sport specific strength training for endurance athletes. Strength training and sport specific training can be like oil and water. Without the proper planning and execution strength training may actually degrade athletic performance. This clinic will discuss the various types of strength training, what is most applicable to endurance sports, and how to phase it correctly. This clinic will be held at The Sport Factory and includes hands on instruction. 2-4pm.
