Coach:  Matt Russ

Age:  31

Personal:  I am originally from Cleveland, OH (don't laugh) where I attended a very athletically and academically challenging all girls private high school. From there, I went on to attend the University of Michigan on a four year soccer scholarship and graduated with honors and a bachelors in Industrial and Operations Engineering. The girls I played with at Michigan all went their separate ways; some into coaching, some to play semi-pro, and some (including myself) decided to hang up our cleats and enter the dangers of the working world. Although we spread across the country, those girls are still my best friends and we are highly involved in each others lives. I moved to Atlanta immediately after college and haven't looked back; the heat and the people will keep me here indefinitely!

Wrapping up a hefty Division I soccer career did not prep me so well for the likes of swimming or biking, but it did remind me how much I enjoy team sports and competing and the relationship that you build through sport. The Sport Factory offers a unique opportunity to do that, and enjoy a team atmosphere in a sport that is primarily individually focused.
Having to juggling a demanding career, an unpredictable travel schedule, a family spread around the east coast, and my strong friendships/ relationships in Atlanta, along with the pressures of triathlon, makes me love the sport even more. I have learned the hard way in triathlon that enjoying the road to get to your goal, is just as important as the day you achieve it.
