Age:  37

Personal: I am one of those rare 'breeds' that was born and raised in Atlanta. I currently live in Roswell with my sweet and happy golden retriever named Abby. I completed my degree at UGA, and since have worked for various companies in the retirement industry (401k/health and welfare plans). I am currently a systems analyst at Hewitt Associates. When I'm not training, I love spending time with my girlfriend and friends watching movies, travelling, renovating my house, cooking (I sometimes feel as though I train to eat!), drinking bottles and bottles of wine while discussing anything and everything, and going to concerts. I'm also a coach with The Sports Factory.

I think my passion for endurance sports started at a very early age. Like most kids with tons of energy, I spent a lot of my time outside- playing sports since before I can remember. During my earlier years, I swam, played competative soccer, basketball, and football. After graduating UGA, I eventually took up running as a way to drop excess weight after a short lived collegiate football career. I had watched my father run the peachtree road race during the early to late 80's and train for 1/2 marathons. At the time, I thought he was crazy. I never understood where his passion came from, but I remembered how fit it made him. Little did I know, my background of sports along with my father's passion for running, would give me the base and drive for what I love doing today. Running was tough at first, but I stuck with it and I began to see the benefits of getting in shape and living a healthy lifestyle. It was in '98 that I trained for and ran my first marathon. I had wanted to try something that I thought at the time was impossible. After I finished that marathon, I realized the biggest joy wasn't about the race itself, but from the rewards and confidence gained by overcoming self doubt and the journey getting to the start line. I absolutely love the healthy, active lifestyle and the many lifelong friends I've made over the years training and competing. Since then, I've run 29 marathons, a handfull of Ironmans, and countless road races and shorter triathlons. I can't see myself stopping anytime soon. I also want to encourage anyone contemplating taking up running, triathlon, or marathons that, YES, YOU CAN DO IT!

2008 Goals:  Last year was a break through year for me and I would just like to continue that run in '08. A few specific goals for '08 is to qualify for the 70.3 championships and set stand-alone pr's for the 10k and 1/2 marathon. This year, I will be racing at the Chattahoochee Road Runners 10k, ING Georgia 1/2 marathon, and Wildflower long course (1/2 ironman). That will keep me busy through May. The remainder of the year might include and Ironman race- still not sure on that one yet!
