Beginner Cycling Skills and Safety

sarah22.jpg
Are you new to cycling or just getting rolling again after a long break?  Unfortunately cycling can be dangerous activity.  However, many of the dangers may be avoided with proper training and instruction.

New cyclists, or even experienced cyclists, often lack the proficiencies to keep themselves and those they ride with safe.  We can help you learn skill sets that may avoid a crash or injury, in a safe one on one environment without intimidation.
Proficiencies include…

• Clipping in and out
• Braking and Shifting properly
• Cornering, Climbing, and Descending
• Body positioning and Sighting
• Drinking while riding • Avoiding road obstacles and group riding
• Pre-ride checks and basic maintenance checks
• Equipment selection
• Rules of the road and cycling etiquette

Each skill set will be demonstrated, drilled, and once mastered checked off.  Participants will receive a report on areas to address and improve upon.  Instruction will be a mixture of indoor training and on road training as applicable.

Please bring bike, shoes, cycling shorts and jersey.  Be prepared for an informative session; notes are welcomed.  Sessions last approximately 75-90 minutes and the cost for a single session is $75.  Additional sessions may be scheduled as needed or desired by the participant.
