Software Tips
The software you are about to use is simply the best coaching software in the world. You may veiw a demo of it here demo 1 / demo 2 and an overview of features here. It is highly functional, easy to use, and communicates all the necessary data needed to coach you optimally. It is very intuitive, but there are a few features I would like to point out.
- Login. Login on the software by clicking on "coaching login" in the top of the left main task bar on The Sport Factory website. You will be sent you your user / pass once we receive payment.
- Calendar. This is your work out plan. Your coach designs your plan in 4 week blocks. Click on "show descriptions" to see a detailed description of each work out. Your coach will put notes at the bottom of each description with specific instructions. If you have intervals you will find the length and recovery times here
- Daily Log. This is our main mode of communication that provides your coach with work out data a glance. The more information you fill out the better we can coach you. In the daily metrics section, at the very least fill on the "overall" section. I will not go into detail on each feature because it is pretty self explanatory. You need to fill in the amount of time you worked out, and time in hr zone if applicable. You can enter diet information if you would like your coach to spot check your diet. The athlete comments section is an excellent way to communicate how your work out went. We find this section is the most useful for communication.
- Upload feature. You can upload files from your Polar hr monitor as well as a variety of other equipment. These files graphically show your work out data, and are highly useful. We recommend that you attach a data file from your heart rate monitor or power meter for optimal coaching.
- Attach File. Occasionally we may attach a file to your work out. This may be a word document, excel spreadsheet, or video file. Be sure to look for an attached file.
- File Library. Once we have attached a file it is always available in your File Library located under Preferences.
- ATP. We build your annual training plan out in Excel, and we use different terminology than the Training Peaks software. You will be emailed a copy of your annual training plan and description.
- Message Board. If you have a training question you can always your coach, but you will find a variety of opinions and some good questions on the message board.
- Messages System. There is an internal email system within the program. You can either send your coach an email, or send an internal message. If it is urgent we recommend an email however.
- Get Your Plan Emailed Daily. You can access this features under the Preferences tab by clicking on My Account.
- Color Coding. If you have a 60 min. run prescribed, and you complete it as planned and enter it in your log, the work out wil turn green on your calendar. If you performed a work out but not as prescribed (ex. 40 min. run) it will turn yellow. If you do not enter log data or do not complete the work out it is red. Be sure to press "save" after entering your log data.
The rest of the features you can get in and play around with, but please let your coach know if you have any questions. Your coach will go over all the features with you personally.
