The Alzheimer's Association, Georgia Chapter, and Denise Novicki, founder of the Tri2Remember Sprint Triathlon, are pleased to announce two firsts: The inaugural Tri2Remember Sprint Triathlon is teaming with six-time marathoner Laura Huckabee for the September 20th event.

Laura Huckabee is one of Atlanta television's most experienced meteorologists and an avid athlete who has competed in marathons in the United States and internationally. Huckabee isn't just an athlete; she is also a single mom and grad student who has a very competitive and demanding career. Huckabee will prepare for the event by training with  The Sport Factory. Roswell Bicycles  provided Laura with a bike, shoes, helmet and accessories for her training and race.

Tri2Remember Sprint Triathlon will be held September 20, 2008 in Gainesville's Laurel Park and benefits the Alzheimer's Association, Georgia Chapter. Tri2Remember includes a 400-meter swim, 15-mile bike ride and 3-mile run.

The event's structure makes it perfect for first-time tri-athletes, as well as experienced competitors. Athletes can form a team or compete as an individual.

The Tri2Remember Sprint Triathlon was founded by local tri-athlete, Denise Novicki, whose father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease three years ago. Denise's experience as a full-time caregiver spurred her to raise money and fight Alzheimer's through the sport she loves—by creating Tri2Remember.

Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia and there are more than 199,000 Georgians living with the disease right now. Every 71 seconds someone in the United States develops Alzheimer's disease.

The Alzheimer's Association, Georgia Chapter helps people living with Alzheimer's and their families by providing education and support. The chapter serves families in all of the state's 159 counties and the Alzheimer's Association has been a part of every major advancement in the field of research.

When you support Tri2Remember, you are helping support Georgia families who are affected by this devastating disease.
