11global, an international olympic distance triathlon series, brought its first race on US soil to the beautiful backdrop of The Ritz at Reynolds Plantation. The race, named ELEVEN, was well attended by Sport Factory team members, and in a word, we dominated!
Coach Matt Hanson summed it up when he sent a quick text to another coach from the finish line as he watched our ladies snatch up the top honors, “Someone bring me a broom! It’s a clean sweep!”
Tracy Palmer was the dark horse for the amateur women, winning her first amateur title in only her second triathlon ever! Tracy is new to the sport and new on the team this year, and we couldn’t be more proud of her progress. A former collegiate swimmer, Tracy crushed the women’s field in the swim, and held onto the lead through the bike and run to lock in her first win. Tracy, coached by Amy Kloner, may be new to the sport, but is a fierce competitor and incredibly driven, and we are excited to have her representation on TSF this year.
The Sport Factory women continued to lock in the podium. Lisa Marshall, a consistent figure on the podium of nearly every race she enters, held on for 2nd. Lisa is coached by Jon Adamson. In her very first olympic distance triathlon, 15-year old Hannah Meadows crossed the line 3rd amateur! Hannah is coached by Holly Marzetti, who has a phenomenal track record developing junior elites. Crystal Perkins, coached by Jennifer Lesser, won her age group and was the 4th amateur OA to cross the finish line. Crystal is also new to the sport and is juggling medical school to boot! Jo Adamson also won her age group, another fixture on the local podium over the years. Our ladies were rockin’!
On the men’s side, Dennis Reardon was the 1st OA amateur, posting consistent splits on all three sports. Byron Milton, coached by Matt Russ, won his age group, as did Jon Adamson, a local, national, and world champ several times over.
