Team Sport Factory Dominates Tugaloo Podium and GA State Triathlon Championship

10/8/08

Team Sport Factory's Sam Morgan and Kris Kester both placed first overall in the 2008 Tugaloo Triathlon, and team mates Dennis Reardon and Katherine Tindol followed closely behind to claim overall podium placings. In the men's race, Sam Morgan, a former NCAA long distance swimmer, swam away from the rest of the field with a smoking 17:24 swim split. Once onto the bike, Morgan increased his lead with the second fastest bike split of the day posting a time of 1:06:15 on the rolling 42k course. On the run, Sam was able to hold off a hard charging Richard Klepacz and Dennis Reardon to claim the victory to become the 2008 Georgia State Olympic Distance Champion. Dennis Reardon finished 3rd overall and Keith Marshall earned a third place 40-44 age group finish in a time of 2:23:12.

In the women's race, Kris Kester gained control of the race early in typical fashion with the second fastest swim split of the day in a time of 20:43. On the bike course, Kris was able to claim the overall lead and she was able to hold off a hard charging Katherine Tindol who logged the fastest women's bike split of the day in smoking time of 1:08:56. Kester hit T2 just ahead of Tindol, and was able run to victory to claim the 2008 Georgia State Olympic Distance Championship. Katherine Tindol placed second overall and claimed the Georgia State Olympic Masters Championship.

In the 2008 Emerald Point Sprint Triathlon, Team Sport Factory's Sam Morgan dominated the race and set a new course record in the blazing time of 56:32 as he added the 2008 Georgia State Sprint Distance Men's Champion to his rapidly growing triathlon resume. Keith Marshall placed 4thoverall, and won the Masters Division for the 2008 Georgia State Sprint Distance Triathlon Championship. Bob Evans took 2nd place in the Masters Category and earned an impressive 6th place overall finish. On the women's side, Katie June won the 15-19 age group and placed 6th overall.
